The Hague campaigns for AMREF Flying Doctors
In a year-long campaign The Hague supports the
reconstruction of former conflict-region South Sudan: `The Hague
flies for the doctors of South Sudan'. Together with AMREF Flying
Doctors, the city, its inhabitants and visitors work to ensure that
25 new doctors will be trained and that the training's hospital
complete pediatric ward will be renovated.
CPC is part of the action - what about you?
Many of the Hague events and festivals will be dedicated to the
doctors of South Sudan, including the CPC Run. Every runner can
make a contribution through the registration form. Not necessarily
by donating a large sum of money: € 10 e.g. buys a mosquito net,
protecting the young patients of the pediatric ward from
malaria.
Why make a contribution?
South Sudan has hardly any doctors. Those who fall ill, have to
cope for themselves. The country enjoys a recent peace, but has
long suffered under a cruel civil war. During that time, hospitals
were destroyed and only few new doctors were trained, while other
health professionals fled the country or were killed. The
consequences are tragic: children and adults die of easily
preventable and treatable diseases such as measles or
pneumonia.

That is why The Hague supports South Sudan, in collaboration
with AMREF Flying Doctors. In Maridi, in the southern part of the
country, AMREF works with a training hospital where new doctors are
trained. Some of them used to be soldiers, who now focus on healing
instead of fighting. With more funds, more doctors will be able to
graduate. And more people will receive the health care they need.
The Hague will make sure those funds will be raised!
